The Murphy Drill Site is harming hundreds of residents and students at three public schools within 1000 ft. @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA may turn their eyes from this, but we won’t. #NoDrillingWhereWereLiving

Hey @Planning4LA & @CityAttorneyLA South LA youth demand and deserve better than broken promises. You may have ignored their truth when you rolled back health protections, but we won’t. #NoDrillingWhereWereLiving

BREAKING: @Planning4LA & @CityAttorneyLA gave oil company E&B Resources a blank check to buy tens-of-millions of cubic feet of methane to burn in generators at the Murphy Drill Site, near homes & schools. The promise for equal protection under the law were just empty words.

Oil drill site closed by community set to become affordable housing, neighborhood park, & community center. We are so grateful for our partners @LANLT, @nhslacounty, & @JonesSawyerAD57. Excellent report by @latimes @DoranyPineda90. https://t.co/HjEaRrdpzt

An L.A. nonprofit purchased the 1.86-acre lot on Jefferson Boulevard for nearly $10 million. It hopes to transform the parcel into affordable housing.

The same LA officials who once spoke of #EnvironmentalJustice for residents of South LA have now turned their backs on us to curry favor with the insatiable oil industry. @Planning4LA and @CityAttorneyLA – does this seem fair to you? @STAND_LA

Why would LA City officials allow E&B oil company to buy tens-of-millions of cubic feet of methane and burn it near South LA homes and schools? #EnvironmentalRacism @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA @STAND_LA

South LA kids are breathing in toxic chemicals from the Murphy Drill Site, while @Planning4LA and @CityAttorneyLA won’t grant these communities basic health protections @STAND_LA

Oil and gas extraction emits known carcinogens, like benzene, that harm #FrontlineCommunities. @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA these are the painful costs of #NeighborhoodOilDrilling @STAND_LA

The Murphy Drill Site is currently harming hundreds of residents and students at three public schools within 1,000 feet. But @Planning4LA and @CityAttorneyLA don’t think South LA youth are worthy of the same protections as West LA. @STAND_LA

#EnvironmentalRacism = West LA drill sites that are enclosed to protect residents from toxic emissions while South LA residents are denied the very same protections @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA – why would you break your promise? @STAND_LA

Do @Planning4LA and @CityAttorneyLA think that South LA residents aren’t worthy of the same protections given to LA’s wealthier, whiter communities living near oil drilling? #NoDrillingWhereWereLiving @STAND_LA

The fight for environmental justice continues✊ Reminding City Officials who they are harming in the removal of health protections at the Murphy Drill Site. Starting with our South LA youth who demand and deserve better than broken promises @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA @STAND_LA

We are grateful for the vision and leadership of @AirResources board member Hector De La Torre, who for decades has led the fight for cleaner and healthier neighborhoods throughout South LA. Via @GustavoArellano @latimes

I’ve written about how CARB’s actions too often come off as pie-in-the-sky wokery that doesn’t seem to consider how working-class folks might be able to afford living in a purified paradise. That’s...

Caving to Big Oil, @Planning4LA and @CityAttorneyLA want to weaken health protections for breathers. We call on the South LA Area Planning Commission to reject the oil company's appeal & adopt the original Determination of Conditions without change. @STAND_LA
Today at 4:30 PM: Join us for the South LA Planning Commission Hearing to urge @Planning4LA & @CityAttorneyLA to deny oil operator E&B's false claims. They continue to pollute & disrupt South LA residents surrounding the Murphy Drill Site with impunity. https://t.co/oTSm7cAFkh

Big Oil pushback has moved @CityAttorneyLA and @Planning4LA to propose taking away health protections from South LA residents long plagued by neighborhood oil drilling. Will @MayorOfLA excise this malign neglect, sacrificial zoning, & environmental racism? @STAND_LA @RedeemerCP

Denying South LA children protections from oil drilling given to wealthier, whiter, West LA kids 20-years ago is an abject leadership failure. This not who we are as a city. This is not how we want to be led, @Planning4LA @CityAttorneyLA @MayorOfLA. @STAND_LA
Oil drilling's myriad harms to public health are so clear, but @planning4la and @CityAttorneyLA continue to deny South LA residents equal protection. @STAND_LA, @RedeemerCP

This $12.2 million safe routes to school project will take one mile of Jefferson Blvd. off of the City's High Injury Network--the 6% of city streets that account for 70% of deaths and severe injuries for people walking. Residents organized for 10+ years to make this a reality.
LA breaks ground on the community led, $12.2 million Jefferson Beautiful safe routes to school project. Repaired sidewalks, street trees, pedestrian lighting, bike lanes, signalized crossings, and more coming to Jefferson Blvd. from Vermont Ave. west to Western Ave.

The Power of Persistence tells how LA's frontline communities passed public policy to end neighborhood drilling. It's a story of hope for everyone working to save our common home from BIG OIL. @STAND_LA @LibertyHill @billmckibben @ClimateHuman
