It's been far too long since I've created some #wormart. Heavily, heavily inspired by the artwork by Kentaro Miura - the legendary creator of #Berserk. This was a fun one๐Ÿชฑ๐ŸŒ’

Our study is one of the first to identify, characterise, recombinantly express, and test the antimicrobial activity of helminth-derived molecules. We hope this serves to boost helminth-microbiota-host relationship study, and ultimately lead to new methods of helminth control.

In this publication, we show that GI nematode secretions (excretory-secretory products, inc. extracellular vesicles) are a rich and diverse source of antimicrobial peptides and proteins ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿงช

Gaining a better understanding of the relationship between helminth and host microbiota may allow us to develop methods to prevent these unwanted changes, while also establishing new strategies to combat helminth infection.

Infections by GI helminths have been implicated in compositional changes of the hostโ€™s microbial content, possibly to create an environment that is more advantageous to them. These microbial changes can have unwanted, potentially harmful, consequences for the health of the host๐Ÿ‘

Have you ever woken up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night and wondered how gastrointestinal nematodes influence the composition of their hostโ€™s gut microbiota? ๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿฆ  Worry no more!! I am excited to share our latest findings! ๐Ÿงตโคต๏ธ https://t.co/MyNBLY7c3k

Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve done some #wormart (Iโ€™m running out of ways to make worm drawings interesting lol). This one is heavily inspired by comics/sketches by Todd McFarlane. Hope you enjoy. (Unfortunately there seems to be some quality loss during upload to Twitter).
