For our out of state friends, a bit of context: This is the state’s greatest boys’ soccer rivalry, between an affluent, predominantly white private school and a heavily Latinx and immigrant public school, contested with honor and mutual respect. Proud to be an Omahan.

Many people risked a lot to be a part of Omaha hockey. DNB left the NHL; Tychonick and Conley left programs that were winning hardware; other guys signed on to a program that finished 9-24 two seasons ago. And they worked their asses off to make this night a reality.

Don Leahy has left us. He is probably the single greatest figure in the history of Omaha college sports. He was also a profoundly decent, humble and hardworking man. He called me "General" every time he saw me.
