Incorrect. While the AR-10 was submitted to trails and failed (wasn't a serious contender anyway), Armalite did not design the AR-15 for civilian market. The AR-15 was designed and built after a verbal request from General Wyman for a rifle to complete in the SCHV program.
@Spruce_18 @Riley_AngelDog Wrong. Ar10 was sent into army testing and was rejected, the ar15 was then designed for the civilian market using a similar system, but developing a new round for TARGET SHOOTING AND HUNTING. Not for war. The ar15 was then put on the market before militray testing.

@merry123459 In many states a .223 is not considered deadly enough to be a humane kill for a deer sized animal. Every hunting rifle round other than a .22 is more powerful than the AR15 round. They shoot the same, pull the trigger, one bullet comes out. Why is it wrong to hunt with them?.
