@Rebeccasmt #Oliverscampaign Why doesn't the NHS invest in more beds rather than paying these private providers who are milking extortionate amounts of money from the NHS and often not doing a great job Where is the oversight This is not rocket science, it's common sense

@Rebeccasmt Scandalous This was not a thing when I started as a psychiatrist Investing in enough beds and better community services would have been way cheaper No one responsible will be accountable though

@Rebeccasmt Most likely an under-estimation. Lots of mental health bed estate is crumbling with no resource to build new. Lots built under PFI with expensive maintenance contracts on property the NHS won't own...the problem is likely to get worse...

@Rebeccasmt Nor sure this article contributes much. Mental illhealth and eating disorders are mushrooming so it's not surprising that expenditure is rising. What matters is efficiency, outcomes and accountability for which we have no measures either for NHS-built facilities or private ones.
