My interactive bulletin board has been a hit so far!

My 8th graders @SycamoreJrHigh are getting ready for their debates and speeches! I have found that being intentional with your seating arrangement and using it to introduce a unit or activity creates engagement and curiosity.

I have BIG news!!!. Over the summer I was selected to be an NEH Summer Scholar at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. At the end of 2 weeks we had to create a curriculum and my project has officially been published!!! Check it out! The link is in my comments 😊.

Reflecting on my teaching since I became an Ambassador for the @teachbetterteam. I developed 3 core values that guide my teaching. 1. Grades = communication of progress not currency. 2. Learning is not linear.3. Late points can misrepresent what the student actually understands.

Great news to share! Power of the Pen is back @SycamoreJrHigh! I am excited to be coaching the next generation of authors 😁.

I'm using Booksource for my classroom library this year! Not only does it help keep track of the books being checked out, but it also analyzes my library and provides me with numerous reports. 😁 I am way too excited!.

🤣🤣🤣 I love how applicable this is to teaching! There's never a dull moment in middle school, but I love my 8th graders!.

For my students that don't see anything in their head while they read, I am sure this playlist will help them!.

I found the perfect reading playlist!! It really is like you are going on an adventure while you read. 😁I'm reading a non fiction text and it really livens it up.

Learning how to take Cornell Notes! 😊 I've heard about this strategy and have always thought it would be an effective way to take notes that you would actually use. Maybe I'll teach it to my students as a comprehension strategy while they read. 🤔.

I have no self control when I'm at a book store. 😊 So I've added 3 graphic novels and just had to get "Suspended" because my kids LOVED Miles Morales.

I experienced my first 8th grade day @SycamoreJrHigh and it was a blast! I can't wait to do it again next year!.

I finally got to see some of my 8th graders perform last night @Aves_Choir 5-12 Choral Explosion fundraiser! I heard Juilliard worthy vocals and was left utterly speechless. 😊 #ProudTeacherMoment #GoAves.

I am so excited to try this with my 8th graders! I borrowed a variety of picture books for us to experiment with. Tomorrow is going to be a fun class 😁.
