Norway has one of the largest fisheries of sandeel. Up until 2003, it was a mostly unregulated fishery - but now it is strictly regulated both internationally, and within the country. This has helped lead to an increase in the sandeel population with higher recruitment. 🤩📈.

During the winter, it actually hibernates in the sand - and just like a bear, will sleep during the cold season! 🐻.#RControl #fisheries.

Under the comfort of the sand, it sleeps during the night. When morning comes, the sandeel emerges from its sandy hole, to eat - a diet mostly consisting of copepods, fish eggs, and fish-larvae 🦐🐟.
