Just as the links in Scotland flourished along the railway, many courses in the south suburbs owe their existence to the Illinois Central. With numerous daily stops, the IC brought thousands from Chicago to play this new game in America. You can still ride the same line today!

This is the introduction to the book titled "Hazards " Written by Alec Bauer, this is one of the first books published on the subject of golf course architecture. Mr. Bauer was a member of the original board of directors at Ravisloe. The book was published in 1913.
