I gather that it’s not a pleasant day back home. A touch of nature from the Norfolk Broads to brighten up the morning. Unsure, possibly a Comma butterfly, a stunning Hummingbird hawk moth, a delicate damselfly & finally, the unusual gall created by the Acorn or Knopper gall wasp.

A day spent on an electric boat on the river Ant in the Norfolk Broads, with spells on land investigating the area. We’ve seen kingfishers close up, and sadly today we saw a cormorant catch some live bait attached to a vicious pike fishing hook. The water lillies are gorgeous.

Our first ever visit to the Norfolk Broads. We began the day with a superb little boat trip to Hunsett Mill with the Museum of the Broads. Superb staff at the interesting museum, and they are all volunteers. 👍😎

A misty early morning walk at the lake. Inspired by Rob @rfj1966 I was hoping to catch a lovely misty scene but it didn’t quite break up how I was hoping. 🤷‍♂️

Looks like it’s all going to be a matter of luck if you catch a heavy downpour today or enjoy a walk in the sunshine.🤞😎

A morning visit to Whitehaven to see the magnificent Galeón Andalucía, a replica of the type of ship used by the Spanish during the 16th to 18th centuries, in the expeditions of discovery & inter-oceanic trade between Spain, the Americas and the Philippines. A wonderful sight.

A lull in the rather indifferent weather of July allowed some pleasant wanders yesterday and this morning. Ended yesterday with a very late evening walk part the way up Catbells; the golden hour and lack of crowds enhances the late walks. 😎

Somewhere out there, there is summer trying to break out! Unlike the south, it’s been another damp, cloudy day, but at least we have temperatures that allow us to sleep. 😎

Just had a wonderful afternoon at Crow Park watching the artists at work, and the filming of a Sky Arts episode of Landscape Artist of the Year. Very difficult, bright and ever changing light for the artists; a joy to watch. @rfj1966

Very quiet up Latrigg late this evening. I was hoping for a lovely sunset but the thick cloud remained stubborn. However, it’s always a gorgeous view down onto my home town. @rfj1966

Okay, so we needed the rain but enough is enough now! Why does this seem to happen so often in school holiday? 🤷‍♂️ @rfj1966

Wandered down to see if the low lake level was going to be a new record, but no chance. Despite looking very low, it’s still at least an inch (2.5cm) higher than summer 2018 and rain is due tonight! The rest of the low water plaques are out of the water. @rfj1966

Misty & cloudy early start to visit Lewis ystday, including the 3 spectacular Callanish stone cicles, the well preserved Dun Carloway Broch, the lovely black house village of Gearrannon & then a scenic walk to the dramatic Mangersta sea stacks. A long, interesting day. @rfj1966

On Berneray before heading to Harris tmrw. Leisurely day of wandering with a picnic at West Beach, one of the most spectacular beaches in Scotland. The lovely Eilidh of the Coral Box told me the orange boat was the original passenger boat to Harris owned by her uncle.😎@rfj1966

What a Spring! Everything is lapping up the sunshine. I could never imagine a lengthy trip to the Outer Hebrides with day after day of lovely weather. Enjoy it because we’ll pay for it later! 🤣😎☀️@rfj1966
