मौजूदा हालात में आयोग की विश्वसनीयता पर अविश्वास सिर्फ़ “भावना” नहीं, बल्कि डेटा-आधारित आपत्तियों और कोर्ट/सार्वजनिक बहस से भी जुड़ा हुआ है, और ऐसी गड़बड़ वोटर लिस्टें उस अविश्वास को और गहरा करती हैं।
सिर्फ मुंबई में वोटर लिस्ट में 11 लाख से ज्यादा डुप्लीकेट नाम पाए गए हैं, जिसमें कई मतदाताओं के नाम कई बार दर्ज हैं. पूरे महाराष्ट्र में कितने फ़र्ज़ी वोटर होंगे ? भारतीय चुनाव आयोग की विश्वसनीयता अब तक के सबसे निचले स्तर पर है।
