In an unfortunate incident, the GPS-tagged vulture that had travelled 4000 km from Tadoba sanctuary in Maharashtra to Tamilnadu died of electrocution while trying to cross an electric wire near Thirumayam Range, Arimalam Thanjur village, in Pudukottai Division in Tamil Nadu.

What a sad sight! This imported cheetah, made a hapless pawn in a pointless vanity game, reminds us that nature cannot be browbeaten into obeying the whimsies of even the most powerful men. Real conservation means working with nature. And working with nature needs humility.

Arachnid Architects! - This was one of a diverse array of spider burrows that we found last week, out at Helena and Aurora Range. I don't think I've ever seen such a spectacular burrowing spider assemblage.
