My measure of “fuck you money” is 1. being able to set up my personal AWS(automatic weather stations) across strategic locations in western ghats/himalayas 2. Hire volunteers to do election survey wherever elections happen in India. Worth blowing money over IMO

TN's budgeted revenue/expenditure in 2025-26 is around 3.3L/4.4L cr for a pop of ~8.5 cr or ~50k of spend per capita. That is a hell of a lot of money. TN's governance is suffering not due to lack of funds but due to wasteful spend (remember TN is the OG khatakhat state)
Much of Tamil Nadu's taxes gets taken by New Delhi to build ghost airports in poverty ridden Shravasti. Vietnam has no such fiscal transfer issues.

I find this to be a more state based thing. For example, in south india, Kerala and Karnataka has politicians having good ties across party lines, while in Andhra and Tamilnadu politicians take it more personally
This is how democracy should work. Fight passionately for your point of view in elections, with no rhetorical holds barred. But once it’s over, & the people have spoken, learn to cooperate with each other in the common interests of the nation you are both pledged to serve. I

It’s not about romanticizing poverty. Avoiding materialistic and consumeristic pleasures when you could easily access it, is a higher way of living life. People obsessed with buying latest iphone models won’t understand it
