Our daughter Celeste fatally overdosed two years ago. Fentanyl. She posted this two months before she died. I like to share it a few times a year hoping it may save one person from dying. Repost please.
I just want to add two points.
Our children are not their addictions. They do not love us less than the drug. They love themselves less. We may have to use tough love tactics. Do they need food? Give them food. Do they need clothes? Give them clothes. Do they need bus fare? ..
Give them a bus pass. Never just give money. Find out nearby rehabs or addiction counseling or narcotics anonymous meetings. Have that info ready when they are ready. Donβt enable. Encourage. We did all that and more. Much more and still lost her.

You would have loved her. Her personality was unique. She made you feel like the most important person in the world. When she was straight. So friendly. Funny. Great cook.

I'm so sorry you lost her, Nana.
ππ’ In spite of losing the battle herself she still tried to save others during a period when she was clean and sober.

I lost my son 6 mos ago. A truly amazing caring, charismatic exceptional man, he just didnβt see it. I love & miss him everyday. As u know all 2 well, watching ur child struggle w addiction & lose their life, u donβt know how heartbreaking & helpless u feel

Thank you. This week I read Matthew Perryβs book βFriends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.β Itβs an eye-opener for someone not addicted. Addiction becomes their entire life, every moment as Celeste described. Itβs much worse than imagined.π

Hey Nana Gale
I am another Nana on here. I wonder if I could use this in a class for Victim Services Support Workers? It is very eloquent. Feel free to DM me

I'm so sorry for your pain and loss. πͺ I am in recovery from an opioid addiction. It's an uphill battle that I am gratefully climbing every day.

So sorry for your loss I lost my little sister and niece to addiction. No matter how hard we tried I couldn't save her. Taking her from rehab to rehab. I know your daughters thoughts ran through her head constantly, were the same as my niece and sister. No struggle now ;;; β₯οΈβ₯οΈ
