The engagement emphasized importance of transparency, proportionality, fairness, & consistency in sentencing. It also underscored the value of considering alternatives to custodial sentences where appropriate, reaffirming the commitment to accessible & equitable justice for all.

Enhancing the administration of justice through sentencing. NCCJR Committee, led by Justice Ngenye, JA sensitized the Lodwar Court Users Committee on Sentencing Policy Guidelines,2023 to deepen understanding among justice actors especially in underserved regions like Turkana.

The roundtable is organized by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on the climate emergency and human rights organized by the Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment (GNHRE) and partners organizations.

The project is financially supported by the Swedish Institute and implemented by @RWI_Nairobi in collaboration with Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, seeks to strengthen human rights knowledge, widen access to resources, and create a more informed, rights-aware society.

This training marked the second phase of a blended learning programme and it brought together EHRC monitors from across all regions of Ethiopia, united by a shared commitment of upholding human dignity in places often hidden from public view, places of detention.

⏲️Last week, @RWI_Nairobi held an in-person Advanced Detention Monitoring training in Bishoftu for the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission. The training offered the participants an opportunity to deepen both knowledge and practical skills.

RWI is happy to partner with KPS in the institution of a standardised inspection tool that will promote consistency in the assessment of compliance with international standards of offender management.
