Just found out this evening that for the foreseeable future, I will not be writing for The Herald Bulletin any more. I have enjoyed my 38 years and if I am not rehired at some point, it has been a tremendous thrill ride. I hope some of you have been informed and entertained.
Congrats to the Frankton Eagles and Shenandoah Raiders as both won regionals tonight. Each just one win from having an all-area 2A state championship game. Good luck to both.
Received great news today. I am being re-hired by The Herald Bulletin to cover 2 games a week. I am excited to see these great athletes perform again whenever it is safe for them to do that. I will start in mid-August.
Great, great win. No reason 2 more wins aren't in the Frankton future. Eagles girls are on incredible run. Semistate-bound has nice ring to it. Congrats to all players and coaches.
Just confirmed I will be covering the state championship game for Frankton. Very appreciative to
@michelle_garmon
and the
@CallLeader
for the opportunity. This made my week.
So glad I was able to attend the Elwood Sectional Saturday. I would have liked it better if Frankton would have won. But it was great to be able to stand and applaud for Ed Hamilton, who was honored for his time as sports editor for The Anderson Herald and the Elwood Call Leader
I recall when Garth Cone made negative remarks about officiating after a game to me. A bit later he called me and asked if those could be "off the record." That's not how that works, but since he was a class act all of the time, I didn't use those quotes. I love coaches like that
Saw a great boys basketball game tonight at Frankton won by Lapel in overtime. I also saw 1 coach act with class. I believe that's all I need to say to anyone who was there and most who weren't.
As I sit down to write the story about today's basketball game, I couldn't help but think about the path these ladies took us down for the past 4 weeks. I am grateful I was able to witness and document a lot of it. They are a source for much pride to those who watched them.
I am glad the Frankton girls won so this on't sound like sour grapes. But the officials missed 3 calls in the final minute of overtime and all 3 favored South Central. Especially bad was the lack of an intentional foul call when Ava Gardner got grabbed on her way to the hoop.
I guess I spoke about an hour too soon. I will be covering Pendleton Heights for the Greenfield Daily Reporter probably beginning this week. Working for my good friend Richard Torres.
Very deserving of the sectional title. They beat No. 3, next they will prove they can beat anybody. I said a week ago, "Bring it on." The Eagles aren't stopping here.
I feel so fortunate to have been there to watch Brent Brobston make coaching history tonight. Coved many of Rex Bauchert’s games as well. Both class acts.
I want to thank the Frankton Lady Eagles, their coaches, school support staff and fans for making this tournament such a fun experience for me to cover. Good luck to the team. I will be following intently.

I have enjoyed my winter and spring coverage of Elwood and Frankton this school year. Thank you to
@CallLeader
and
@michelle_garmon
for the opportunity. Thank you also to the coaches and ADs that helped and those who read. I hope to come back in the fall. I hope you enjoyed it.
Congrats to Frankton girls basketball team for a great accomplishment and a fun ride. Girls will always remember this season. I will too. Thank you for giving me a chance to watch.

I am going forward with my plans to attend games as a fan, which I have always been as well. I intend on going to the Frankton softball sectional this week and possibly a baseball sectional on Saturday. I look forward to seeing the games and talking to friends. Please say hello.
I want to thank the Elwood and Frankton basketball programs for providing so many enjoyable and memorable experiences this season. I hope I captured some of what made those seasons special in their own way.

Thank you to the Frankton tennis team for a most enjoyable evening of tennis. Congrats on the huge victory. I will be at Marion on Tuesday to follow the team at the regional.

Evansville will be patting itself of the back for four years for signing Sydney. She is one of the to players in the state and a great person. Thrilled for her and can't wait to see her play this season.
I am enjoying the sunshine and patiently waiting for Saturday evening when I return to Lapel for girls basketball sectional action. Can't wait to see the Frankton Lady Eagles in action. This is such an enjoyable group to watch play.

Sad to see Frankton volleyball ends its season in the sectional title game. I was witness to such courage and determination that will stay with me a long time. Will miss Emma Sperry, Holli Klettheimer, Claire Duncan, Ashlyn Bodkin, who closed vball careers.
@FranktonAthleti
Home Sweet Frankton for me! Tuesday I will cover the Frankton boys and their home game against Daleville. Saturday morning I will be there again when the girls face Eastbrook in the first round of the regional. Stoked for both.
Woke up this morning thinking about the Frankton girls' taking the sectional title tonight. And I get to see it and write about it. I expect to see a lot of my Frankton friends at this game tonight.
No matter where I am Saturday, I won't miss a minute of the Frankton girls championship game. Love the heart and soul of the team. Good luck to the Lady Eagles.

I really enjoyed all of my time watching the Frankton volleyball team this year. A lot of talented players who worked hard to get that way. Look forward to next year. Will miss Don Reynolds as an assistant.

Congrats on such a hard-fought victory by Frankton last night. Team effort. But Joey Wright’s big shot and two defensive plays after that clinched it. CIC title assured and they have the horseshoe.

I am very happy that the newspapers in Elwood, Tipton and Alexandria will continue to publish under new ownership. All 3 are big assets to their communities.
@CallLeader
Congrats to Erikka Hill of Shenandoah on her 4th place finish in the discus at the state track meet. One of the best overall athletes I have ever seen.
Glad to report Lapel's Lexi Swanson, a promising freshman in the basketball program, will only miss a couple of weeks when the knee injury she suffered Saturday was a patella subluxation and not a tear. Hope to see her back on the court soon.
Congrats to the Frankton, Shenandoah and Daleville basketball teams for making the big game Saturday. I will be at Alexandria to see the Eagles boys do what I saw the girls do.
Brent Brobston is a wonderful choice as assistant coach for the Indiana All-Star Team. He will bring knowledge, skill, passion and humanity to players who have earned their spot just as he has.

At Frankton for 8 p.m. regional title game tip between Eagles and Lafayette Central Catholic. Big Frankton crowd here. Outnumbering Lafayette crowd 5-1 or more.
I will be covering Oak Hill at Frankton boys basketball tonight. Always a pleasure to see any Eagles team play basketball.
@Franktonbball
@FranktonAthleti
Congrats to Frankton's Bradyn Douglas. He now gets a quality education and a great opportunity to continue his baseball career. I hope he has a great spring at Frankton.

I am very sorry to hear tha Stephan Hamaker is stippling down as Frankton girls basketball coach. Glad he is staying in coaching. He did a great job of preparing his teams and handling players.
@CallLeader
Frankton Lady Eagles basketball finished in third place. They played well in 2 games and nearly got a shot at the title. Congrats and good luck the rest of the season. I enjoyed covering the games.

Wishing the best for the Lady Eagles at the softball semistate. I hope those who are going will tweet so I can follow along. I am impressed with this team's talent and resilience.

It was gratifying that I received 2 inquiries about writing for other newspapers over the past 24 hours. It appears they might not work out logistically, but I appreciate the offers. Going to stick to Madison County where my heart is and maybe change my status to spectator.
I was impressed by what I saw at the Tipton boys sectional championship Saturday. A lot of fight by the Argylls and a ton of resilience by Tipton. Good luck to the Blue Devils on Saturday.
@michelle_garmon
Got booted out of my spot in the jury for knowing too many people. But it cleared the way for me to cover the Lapel girls basketball sectional beginning tuesday. Much better gig.
Elwood becoming a team to not be taken lightly. Enjoyed watching the Panthers play. Seth Mireles did the best job of finishing around the hoop I have seen this season.
Feel sorry for my good friend,
@gmbremer
. I know he gets paid to watch Colts games. But every week he has to come up with a new way to write the same story. The
@Colts
are horrible again down the stretch.
Sometimes I hate being right . This isn’t one of those times. I hope Lapel makes a good choice in selecting a new boys basketball coach. I wish them the very best in their search.
Congrats to the Lady Eagles as regional softball champs. Good luck at the semistate on Saturday. It was a thrilling game to watch. You deserve the title.
