The Food Group Committee is pleased to award 2021's Early Career Medal to Dr. Oluwatobi Kolawole, The Queen’s University Belfast. Prof.Chris Elliott presented the award and certificate. Dr Kolawale is invited to present a lecture on his work at Burlington House, London, in 2022.

In his talk at “AgriFood Sustainability:After COP, what next?”, John Points argued that isolated risk management needs reviewing:to meet sustainability aims, a holistic, balanced scorecard is needed. Food safety, carbon footprint and water risk of intervention need consideration.

RSC Agriculture Group are running a topical event just 10 days after COP. It will be chaired by Gavin Milligan, Green Knight Consulting, and Prof. Tom Welton, RSC President, Imperial College. Policy and science issues to be covered. FOC registration is now open on RSC events.

The next virtual meeting organised by RSC Atomic Spectroscopy Group is “F is for Food”,17th November, 2-3:30p.m. The aim is to elaborate on novel research into elemental analysis of foodstuffs for a range of metals and species. Please go to RSC events for FOC to register.

The Food Group is pleased to confirm the winner of this year’s Early Career Medal is Dr. Oluwatobi Kolawole of The Queen’s University Belfast. His research has led to scientific breakthroughs in farm feed safety, where naturally occurring contaminants pose a global challenge.
