Some of you may wonder about the name of this profile - Chamberlain's Ghost. Just briefly, when this war started in early 2022, I strongly expressed the view that Ukraine should seek a settlement with Russia as soon as possible. This was long before we all learned about the.

It's taken the US 25 years of continual diplomatic work to build a viable relationship with India. In building that relationship the US has had several underlying objectives. These include getting US company manufacturing relocated from China to India and having the world's.

Question. The event involving a 14-year-old girl in Dundee, Scotland, reportedly arrested for brandishing a knife and an axe to protect herself and her friend (or sister) from an alleged assault near St Ann’s Lane. It seems to have become something of a cause célèbre - I see.

Sternenko explained why Zelensky refused Trump’s deal. He is simply being threatened with murder for giving up Donbas. “If Zelensky had given up even an inch of unconquered land, he would have been a corpse—first politically, and then literally. It would have been a bomb under

Quite a few people think the WSJ article about the delivery of some 3000 ERAM cruise missiles to Ukraine by the US is fictional. I'm not as sure as they are though. A bit of looking turned up this (linked) article which says that the RFI was issued in January 2024. Importantly.

Quick math; Ukraine would have to pay the families of fallen soldiers more than 25.5 trillion Hryvnias if the casualty figures of 1.7 million are confirmed. This amount is more than three times Ukraine's GDP from the previous year or equivalent to seven of its annual budgets.

I'm loosely tracking the rising tensions in the UK following the anti-immigration riots and the UK government's subsequent crackdown. I maintained then - and maintain now - that while the state may be able to suppress matters, at least for a time, that it is unable to solve them.

Even U.S. President 🇺🇲@realDonaldTrump has voiced outrage over Ukraine’s strike on the Druzhba pipeline – the third such attack in a short period. The Druzhba pipeline is a vital source of Hungary’s crude oil supply, without which our energy security cannot be guaranteed. 🇭🇺

Did Witkoff really think that the Russians would agree to the one major thing they went to war to prevent? Apparently so. Oh, the naivete.

Three reasons:. (1) Putin promised Zelensky that the Russians would not (try to) kill him. That was back in 2022 already but the promise holds. At least unless the Ukrainians try to kill Putin. (2) The Russians have taken the view that Zelensky's interference in military matters.

Ukraines' Flamingo cruise missile. 3000km range and 1.15 ton warhead. We'll see how they perform but just like drones, HIMARS and many other things, they're likely also just one more item in the conflict ledger that the Russians are going to figure out how to cope with.

👇Interesting. Hungary would be entitled to take steps to protect its critical infrastructure. Think about this too in a context of the arrest now of a Ukrainian for the Nord Stream bombing.

Last night the Druzhba pipeline was attacked again for the 3rd time in a short period, cutting off oil deliveries to Hungary. This is a clear attack on our energy security & another attempt to drag us into the war. It will not succeed! We stand for peace & our national interests.

German prosecutors say a Ukrainian man was arrested in Italy on Monday, accused of being part of the group that bombed the Nord Stream undersea gas pipelines in 2022. The man, Serhii K., was allegedly one of the coordinators of the operation. He'll be extradited to Germany.

There are quite a few posts by Ukrainians raising the question for the reader of what part of their own country they would be willing to surrender to an invader for the sake of peace. The snide answer is 'Maybe the part which always belonged to Russia anyway and which was only.
