We are deeply moved by the many messages of solidarity and support we have received over the past couple of days. ROAR was always a collective and collaborative project, and it means the world to us that you all felt so strongly connected to it too. La lucha continúa! ✊❤️🙏

This is extremely sad news and leaves a massive gap in radical publishing. ROAR published so many great articles about/from grassroots movements around the world. Their absence will be sorely felt 🙁

We were sad to see @ROAR_Magazine shut down yesterday, but also grateful for its powerful legacy. Born out of the global Movements of the Squares in 2011, ROAR covered & gave a voice to those fighting for radical democracy around the world. https://t.co/cLFtvcs2B3

Meanwhile, we are working on a final redesign of our website, which we will keep online as a digital archive for years to come. We hope it will continue to serve as a useful resource for the movements from which it sprung. 5/

Thankfully, the independent media ecology in 2022 is much livelier and a lot more diverse than it was when we first started out back in 2011. We are confident that the next generation of media activists will continue to thrive in this environment. But they need your support! 4/

For over ten years, we worked on ROAR as volunteers on a shoestring budget. During this time we published over 1,200 essays, released 12 special issues, curated dozens of films and hosted countless podcasts. None of this would have been possible without your continued support. 2/

A humanitarian crisis has been playing out at #Poland’s border with #Belarus, exposing the #EU's two-faced refugee policy. Here, refugees are not met with cups of hot tea and free transport, but with volleys of tear gas, barbed wire and #pushbacks.

The reception of Ukrainian refugees in Poland has painted an image of a country welcoming refugees. But the crisis at the border with Belarus tells a different story.
