Bless this new icu nurse who so calmly and casually walked up to me and asked for help because they needed to paralyze her very unstable patient and she’s never done it. I just wanted to yell YOURE DOING GREAT SWEETIE!!
@RNSuperHero
Remember my second day on my own when I took you away from your orientees because my patient was crashing all night?
I was pretty calm!
Probably because you were doing everything lol
@RNSuperHero
Normal feeling safe enough to ask these important questions without fear of being judged.
YOU are doing a great job giving off those safe vibes !
@AshBuggin
I am nice. People get mad on here because I call out blatantly unsafe or sketchy behavior (it’s almost never new nurses) but I love to help and I love to teach
@RNSuperHero
And asking for help as a new nurse should not be a thing that could be viewed as extraordinary. Nurses can be difficult, to put it mildly. It’s a profession that eats its young. I’m a nurse for over 30 years. I’ve seen some things.
@RNSuperHero
I used to make a point of introducing myself to the new nurses & tell them they could always come to me if they needed help & their preceptor was busy. I always thought new nurses weren't treated very well. I really hope that's changing.
@RNSuperHero
I fit in both categories. After 5 years in the ICU, half traveling, young nurses come up to me with issues. But I still have the more experienced nurses I’m comfortable with going to when I have a question. I’m happy I have that reputation as being approach able though.
