And this is after a physician has ordered something that they *know* might not be covered and we have already factored that into the equation. We know that a plan means nothing if it cannot be implemented. It’s exhausting for everyone.

Every prior authorization or peer to peer makes me crazy. The doctor recommends a certain medication, radiation, a scan and nope, insurance denies and makes you prove the necessity.
@RNSuperHero
NO BECAUSE LIKE?!?!? They’re like actually we don’t cover that and you’re like okay what bioidentical med do you cover then the patient needs it and they’re like lol idk

I’ve worked in insurance for 5 years (& am in nursing school) & I remember insurance once denied this guys ambulance ride bc “a headache” wasn’t an emergency. Like it could’ve been a stroke, an aneurysm, or so many other things if it was bad enough he felt the need to call 911???

I was just told that Friday by my primary's PA. There's a medication that will work better than the current one but insurance rarely covers it, even with those worse than me.

Post op outpatient. Family was supposed to pick up his pain med, because his pharmacy closed early. They can’t get it, because they can’t afford to pay out of pocket, and his insurance won’t cover it. Confirmed it wasn’t covered ‘because he’s already on a benzo.’ 😳

My friend and I who work in oncology and pediatric rheumatology respectively had a very intense discussion about this last night. It’s barbaric.

My best friend has Multiple Myloma…the state switched her from Disabled to retired….benefits change and not they won’t pay for her med. So now she’s trytryingto find one that insurance will approve….so frustrating
