If you want to increase nurse retention (in addition to paying us better!) have actual food available for night shift to buy and eat and let us wear what we want as long as it’s work appropriate, nobody cares if I wear a pink fleece or a blue zip up

@RNSuperHero Last time I said in this app we need food available at night, I got yelled at by some old nurses about how they didn't get food and they just thought ahead and bought their own 🙄

@NurseKem Like it doesn’t have to be a full cafeteria. The coffee shop/cafes are fine. Just somewhere we can get coffee and something to eat

@RNSuperHero Honestly I listen to nurses gripe a lot It sounds like if yall had 1. Safe staffing 2. Admin that didn't micromanage and treat you like children 3. Less charting. Yall would be much happier

@RNSuperHero You could ask for anything in the world and you're asking for hospital cafeteria food?!? That's just sad. Personally I'd go for a DoorDash stipend myself.

@RNSuperHero There was one area hospital (Unfortunately not where I worked!) that boxed up some meals and sandwiches. They would leave them in the cafeteria for Night Shift for free!! Shocking!!

@RNSuperHero US hospital food situation in general is horribly unacceptable. Do you think they’d pay for 24 hr food service. My mother packed leftovers for her night shift. My job was to starch her cap onto the mirror. I agree about dress, but damn she looked professional, even beautiful.

@RNSuperHero Staffing that allows us to take our lunches. We don’t opportunities for breaks ever, and in some cases not enough coverage to even get lunch.

@RNSuperHero Especially if the nurse on nights is pulling a double because they’ve been manipulated by being guilted in to doing it. Packed for last shift, nothing for the next shift they’re doing and GOD FORBID they take a sandwich from the fridge 😒 from personal experience.

@RNSuperHero Also, order food delivered to nightshift when you've ordered for dayshift. Yes,there will be fewer options available to deliver at night, but we always notice when mgmt treats dayshift and we get nothing
