Forever and always fuck day shifters who walk in at 7am and undermine and trash talk night shift who has been struggling for 12 hours just to keep the patient alive.

@RNSuperHero The inter-shift bickering is very divisive and the blame game is destructive- but your choice of words could be better to describe the problem and help toward a solution. #NursePower #TeamBuilding #leadership

@RNSuperHero Absolutely, especially in front of a patient or family. Undermines care.

@RNSuperHero Well you know, nightshift doesn’t do anything all night. 🙄 Ok Carol, I only have been wrestling & 80lb meemaw who come 8pm suddenly has the strength of the hulk & is determined to rip out all her chest tubes & fall on the floor. She finally fell asleep 5 minutes ago.

@RNSuperHero Them: You didn’t give the 6 am heparin. Us: AM labs drawn and sent, updated VS in, recent assessment charted, IVs flushed, patient tucked in. No Becky it’s 635 and the heparin wasn’t given because you know continuation of care is a thing. Have a good shift🖕🏻

@RNSuperHero This ⤴️ 1000%. Especially the not-picky stuff. “oh, you didn’t get both patients washed up when the ICU was short 11 nurses and it seemed like the whole hospital was on fire?”. Or the things you literally can’t do at night - like have a SW consult, or call the family docs office

@RNSuperHero When I was a night shift ICU nurse… Me: We had 2 codes, intubated a third, had a trauma admission, and put in a swans and an ICP monitor in room 3. Day shift: Oh, you didn’t get all the baths done? Hmmmmmm.

@RNSuperHero Or walking into evening shift, the usual suspects are busy holding up the nurses station, three docs are writing pages of orders on multiple pts, they are rolling up 2 admissions from the ED and the ED is calling with report on 2 more...

@RNSuperHero You have night shifters and days that work hard. The opposite is true. You have day shifters and nights that talk smack. The opposite is true. Nursing needs to do better with having a positive work environment

@RNSuperHero Always and forever, you get to sleep with your family at normal hours and have dinner with them, don’t care to hear anything you have to say.

@RNSuperHero I rotate & I hate that. I’m the one who says “don’t worry about the expired IV, I’ll put a new one in tonight.” Or “go home & get some rest! I’ll take care of the stuff that got missed!” to the exhausted night shifter. We should work together but some ppl are just assholes.

@RNSuperHero @Ferneche1962 For real I've had it both ways Everyone knows about certain slackers But for a busy shift we prioritize & oncoming staff should recognize it vs nitpicking
