Always nice to find Toby Jones trending, and a pleasure to have the chance to point out that his father was also a damn fine actor - the late great Freddie Jones (The Man Who Haunted Himself, Juggernaut, The Elephant Man, Erik The Viking).

@rickygervais
I'm so sorry, Ricky - to paraphrase John Oaksey, the hardest part of life is the number of dogs, cats and horses you outlive. But to live without animals? It's hardly living at all.
Ahoy, the

crowd! Maybe save some of your rage for the Royal Family's ongoing efforts to bring Prince Andrew back into the fold. Here's Will and Kate going to church on Sunday with a man who gave £12m of our money to a woman he claimed to have never met.
Spy Magazine ran a very revealing piece about James Toback way back in March 1989. For years, it was missing from the defunct magazine's records. You can read it here at the following site (pages 86 to 92)...

Fear not, everyone! Next Saturday at 2pm, BBC Two's showing A Matter Of Life And Death, and so, for 105 minutes, everything will be right with the world.
#amatteroflifeanddeath
For anyone in need of a lift - which would appear to be everybody - A Matter Of Life And Death is on
@BBCTwo
tomorrow at 1pm. For the subsequent 104 minutes, I assure you everything will feel at least a little bit better.
"We're raised with the ideas that what's going to bring us happiness is fame, wealth and sex. After Licensed To Ill, we came to the idea that trying to do things that are positive is what brings a person true, lasting happiness."

Tom Sizemore - for a measure of the actor, rewatch Heat and look at how much his does with so little dialogue. Michael Cheritto - the family man who can't quit crime because for him, "the action is the juice"; as fascinating character as there is in the film.

It was ten years ago today that my favourite ever TV listing appeared in the Telegraph:
Channel 5, 9pm - The Bible: Jesus is crucified. Last in the series.
With the world collapsing in chaos, be sure to catch Powell and Pressburger's A Matter Of Life And Death tomorrow afternoon at 2.30pm on
@BBCTwo
- for 105 minutes at least, it will feel like everything is right with the world.
As sad as it is to hear of Jill Gascoine's death, sadder still is the fact that that god-awful illness robbed so vivacious an actress of her very real gifts an age ago. Here she is in happier times with her husband Alfred Molina.
#jillgascoine
Quick heads up - I can think of few better ways to celebrate Diana Rigg's movie career than catching Basil Dearden's The Assassination Bureau this Thursday on
@TalkingPicsTV
at 10pm. Oliver Reed, Telly Savalas, Curt Jurgens, Warren Mitchell, Beryl Reid - a top quality caper.
Should you have the chance to catch Tom Wilkinson in Antonia Bird's Priest, I urge you to take it. Written by Jimmy McGovern and featuring compelling performances from Linus Roache, Robert Carlyle, and Cathy Tyson, it remains among BBC Film
#s
finest offerings.

Good to see the
#pangolins
' plight is now part of the
#COVID2019
story. Among the things I love about these chaps is the way they cross their front paws, giving them the look of C19th mill workers going cap in hand to the owner to ask whether they can work a half-day Wednesday.
With the country collapsing in chaos, be sure to catch Powell and Pressburger's A Matter Of Life And Death this afternoon at 3.30pm on BBC Two - for 105 minutes at least, it will feel like everything is right with the world.

Frighten everybody shitless."

It's a Bank Holiday Monday and that can only mean one thing - Ray Harryhausen movies! Catch The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad on 5Spike at 1pm.

Don't forget - it's Audrey Hepburn Day on Sky Cinema Classics. Funny Face, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Sabrina, Roman Holiday - a wonderful way to mark what would've been her 89th birthday.

Hugely entertaining Vincent Price double-bill on
@TalkingPicsTV
tonight, starting with Theatre Of Blood (pictured) at 9.05pm, followed by Scream And Scream Again at 11.15pm.

If you've never seen it, William Friedkin's Sorcerer is on Film4 tonight at 12.45am. The best remake in the history of film? Very possibly, yes.
@Film4
@WilliamFriedkin
Just noticed that, tomorrow on
@TalkingPicsTV
at 9.05pm, John Wayne takes the Big Smoke by storm in Douglas Hickox's London-based Brannigan. Here's the Duke sharing the screen and a few choice words with
@Tony_Robinson
.
"Cannes is my idea of hell. You see all the people you thought were dead and all the people who deserve to be dead. After a while, you start to think you might be dead, too." Dirk Bogarde (28/3/1921 - 8/5/1999)

Oh well, since Jimmy Nail's trending...
Vic: I've got a lot of mail for Jimmy Nail but I don't know what to do with it.
Bob: That's fine, Vic. Just write on it 'return to Spender'.
... So if you're wondering why Karen Allen is so recognisable in her seventies as she was in her prime, perhaps it's the because she's a beautiful person inside and out. /5end

Today I am two years sober.
It was on this day in 2017 that I went into rehab. By way of contrast, tonight me and the family are heading to the Comedy Store.
There's plenty I could say but I'll just keep it short and say thank you.
So thank you. And here's to the next year.
