We train how we fight...Arctic conditions in the high North, with temperatures of -5° and 40kts of wind across the deck creating a wind chill of -20°

54 Ships,15 Commands, and 42 years of service, Capt Karl Woodfield has retired from the RFA. He is pictured handing over his final command

to Capt Mike Lawrence.
Between the 2 captains sits 82 years of seagoing experience
We wish Capt Woodfield a happy retirement

for giving us the opportunity to try out all our rigs for the first time. Thanks for such a professional evolution!

Finished with engines for our Chief Engineer Dave Smith, he will shortly retire after 38 years in the RFA. Fittingly, leaving us in Loch Striven, where he spent his childhood. His Father working at the Oil Depot enabled him to spend time on RFA Ships from a young age!
There's snow place like home...our ships company now back onboard following refit period. We awoke to a wintry morning on the Mersey

A busy week for Team TSUR; multiple replenishment serials with

Ted Surge certainly needed his knitted jumper in the Arctic conditions today 🐻 ❄ As Ted is blocking the pennant number, any guesses as to which of our Nato partners is conducting a RAS approach?

A familiar looking ships profile ??🤔 HNoMS Maud joined us alongside recently. Built in the same dockyard as Tidesurge, her design is a variation on the Tide-class, performing a similar support function for the Royal Norwegian Navy 🇧🇻
A wonderful day celebrating Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee on RFA Tidesurge at anchor in Torbay. 58 members of the ships company received their jubilee medals today to commemorate their service

A few people were interested in our ships propulsion system so here are a few photos of our Main Diesel Engines and Diesel Generators which help to power both the propulsion systems, auxillary machinery, ships lighting, ventilation and other services onboard.
As we come up to our Service of Dedication tomorrow, we're pleased to announce that Tidesurge has been approved to adopt the

RFA Tidesurge left

in Birkenhead this week after completing the first CSP maintenance period.
The Pilot assigned for our departure was the father of one of the Ships Cadet (X) Harry Leader (Both Pictured). A proud family moment Indead.
The time has come for this particular tweeto/deckie to say goodbye 🙈
It has been a brillant opportunity to take on some PR/photography work, a busy ship but great RFA & RN crew.
Take care & keep up the following 🤓

Much like hands to bathe, cheesy hammy eggy and runs ashore, bucketball is an institution at sea 🌊
Today members of the crew had a few games on the flight deck under the warm sun to break up the journey and have some fun ☀️
Luckily no balls were lost at sea!

Following the Government's recent announcement to award Team Resolute the contract to manufacture three Fleet Solid Support ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Tidesurge is currently enjoying a visit to Belfast - a place we'll be getting to see a lot more of in the near future
Tidesurge has been quiet on here of late, however the ship hasn't been, as we have been busy conducting our final regeneration assurance activities, with our final "work up" phase to come. So "Brace, Brace, Brace" for further updates soon!
After a successful maintenance period we're back out to sea and what a view to accompany a Sunday morning cuppa. A busy few days of trials and platform endorsements ahead
