I am becoming so disappointed with @BishopBarron This was a great evangelist whom I used on many occasions in class. So, so disappointed. No comments on the horror of ICE Raids, cuts to foreign aid etc. Very much a spokesman for MAGA.

@RETeacher11 I remember being at Murrayfield when he was there. Won’t (cos can’t!) forget that. Not just because I almost ‘lost’ one of my pupils that evening! His encouragement of young people was immense. And I’ve often quoted his words (on another occasion?) - “Do not be afraid!”

Wednesday. Feast of St Pope John Paul II. I think, the greatest Pope of recent times but also a candidate for the most influential person of the 20th Century.

On tomorrow’s Feast of St Teresa of Avila there is a great opportunity to use her as a prime example for pupils of good deeds being inspired from prayer.

Feast of St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) whose holiness and life of prayer led to her mystical visions and her dedication to good deeds. As a result of her prayer life, her good deeds and her writings she was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970.

“The Church, like a mother, accompanies those who are walking. Where the world sees threats, she sees children; where walls are built, she builds bridges. And she knows that in every rejected migrant, it is Christ himself who knocks at the door of the community” Pope Leo

Saturday. Feast of St John XXIII who was Pope from 1958 to 1963 and known for his prayerful lifestyle and his calls for peace especially his Encyclical ‘Pacem in Terris.’ Along with John Paul II and Francis he remains one of the greatest Popes of last hundred years.

Tomorrow. Feast Day of Cardinal Newman who converted to the Catholic Church from being Anglican. He found the authoritative teaching of the Catholic Church to be such a strength. Canonised in 2019.

When Cardinal Borgoglio chose his papal name after St Francis of Assisi, it was clear that a priority of his Papacy would be to work for the poor and marginalised. It expected that Pope Leo’s first major writing will complete Francis’ unfinished exhortation on the poor.
