Use of Dichloromethane and other chlorinated solvents can be a big issue when trying to improve the sustainability of a lab. A simple swap to 3:1 EtOAc:EtOH over the past year has helped us to reduce our chlorinated waste to virtually zero. #earthday2023

Can we make our methods 'greener'? Yes! Our team in Strasbourg have been investigating swapping out Acetonitrile for Ethanol in reversed-phase HPLC. The results are comparable, reliable chromatography all whilst using a greener solvent. #earthday2023

This week we are celebrating National Apprenticeship Week! Ellie, Kate and Isaac are integral members of our lab team and all benefit from learning on-the-job whilst studying for a BSc in Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.
