This isn’t rude or targeted but idk why it’s so hard for people to accept that certain characters are nonbinary, some characters aren’t as evil or good as you assumed, and some aren’t as one dimensional as you thought.

People are trying too hard to see the similarities between Undertale and Deltarune and because of that they don’t see the differences between the 2. If they were the same the story simply wouldn’t be half as meaningful.

Most people don’t take the lines seriously or read into them enough which is why people argue about the story in the first place. It’s also why frisk saying their name at the end is important. It’s telling you to finally connect all the dots.
hell I think this is entirely on purpose as well, the whole purpose of the Chara/Frisk twist is that you're supposed to think Frisk is a blank slate self insert so having obvious characterization for Frisk would kinda break that illusion and ruin the twist.

Apparently if something isn’t explicitly stated it’s suddenly up to interpretation and I feel like atp it’s just a literacy problem. People should be able to connect the dots instead of getting spoonfed the lore.
I don’t exactly disagree that you can’t see some stuff in undertale in different ways but I feel like people try way too hard to make everything up to interpretation and it in turns just makes Toby’s writing look badly made and it also takes away the themes of the story itself.
