All states have a legal duty to prevent genocide. We call for: . 1. An Immediate, Permanent #Ceasefire & Full Humanitarian Access .2. The Application of Robust, Targeted, and Timebound Sanctions aimed at ending Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the related system of Apartheid.

Article II of the UN Genocide Convention defines genocide as acts committed "with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group". We believe the Israeli actions in #Gaza meet this threshold.

Since 7 October 2023, we have witnessed the following realities: . • Approximately 1,200 Israelis killed, over 3,300 injured and 223 people abducted. • Over 57,000 Palestinians directly killed, with estimates including indirect impacts of war rising as high as 300,000.

We will continue to work with ecumenical partners at the UN and with AFSC to uplift the voices calling for urgent engagement and dialogue that will pave the way for a durable peace on the Korean peninsula.

At the United Nations, QUNO encourages conversations about the effects of the ongoing war on Korean people and around the world. From families divided for decades to the threat of nuclear weapons, people feel the direct and societal effects of violence over generations.

While the Armistice brought an end to armed conflict amongst the parties to the War, those parties have yet to sign a peace agreement to end it. The Korean Peninsula remains in a state of conflict, over the decades becoming one of the most militarized places in the world.

Alongside Korean partners around the world, QUNO commemorates the 72nd anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement, which halted hostilities in the #KoreanWar.
