To celebrate Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow turning 50 I visited Imperial War Museum to see the V-2 rocket. It is cut away to show fuel tanks and engine. I didn't realise it was so big until seeing it up close #gravitysrainbow #ElephantandCastle #SouthLondon

It's very silly but I do like Johnny Mnemonic (1995). https://t.co/VOh5RQOT6H

A review of everything we learned about technology the 1995 film Johnny Mnemonic, which is unquestionably the greatest science fiction cyberpunk epic starring Keanu Reeves. Yeah, I said it.
Pick: 'Johnny Mnemonic' is on Sky Mix at 2100. Ah, the heady days when 80gb was deemed an unfathomable amount of storage. (2021, apparently.) This film has a poor reputation, but honestly it's one of those that's fun-bad rather than regular-bad. https://t.co/OotqLrPIOw

I like Faster (2010). It does feel like a 70s US action film. There are some nice touches, such as introducing the eccentric hitman doing yoga poses. (On @Legend__Channel 9pm tonight UK) #faster2010

I read the Biggles books as a child, the heroic British World War pilot was bought up to date in this somewhat confusing time travel adventure. It was Peter Cushing's final film. https://t.co/1T4Ybapk0E…

In Biggles: Adventures In Time, a 1930s hero made his way to the big screen in the 1980s. And it's worth seeking out...

I saw the Bunker exhibit at Steyning Museum. It included rare items from highly secret WWII British Auxiliary Units who were trained and equipped to go to ground and use irregular warfare in event of German invasion #staybehind #staybehinds #WWII #Sussex

I do like King Arthur (2004) directed by Antoine Fuqua. It is unusual in reinterpreting Arthur (Clive Owen) as a Roman officer rather than a medieval knight. It is an dubious premise. https://t.co/Ouw6CMuKsI… (at 17.30) #romanbritain #KingArthur (on Great TV 9pm tonight UK)

I was pleasantly surprised to see Ladbrokes bookies were taking bets on the Nobel Prize for Literature in the betting shop. I put a modest wager on Thomas Pynchon winning, out of loyalty at least. (Pic: Brighton, UK)

Not the best portrayal of the character but Mark Wahlberg does a decent enough job of playing Parker in Play Dirty (2025). #DonaldEWestlake

At first glance, it seems like the oddest possible pairing of artists and material: actor Robert Downey Jr. and writer/director Shane Black, the motormouth duo behind the cult noir film “Kiss Kiss …

I'll have to check with Ladbrokes bookmakers for what odds they are giving for Thomas Pynchon. I may put a modest wager on him winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, out of loyalty at least.

The Crying of Lot 49 is a good Pynchon to start with. It is much shorter than his other work and includes themes such as marginal characters and conspiracies that develop in his other books. It's my favourite so I'm really biased. W.A.S.T.E.
