Something about drinking a coffee out of my dad’s coffee cup that I know he would grumble and complain about “that’s not coffee” amuses me greatly. He added a cube of ice to cool it down. This has pumpkin spice creamer added. I miss the old man.

We train with a couple of med students from the local med school. Their professor is a brown belt and he dropped in today. He submitted them, while explaining to them what he was doing to them in medical terms. That’s a whole new demoralization 🤣🤣🤣

Currently taking a month long Henry Akins coaching course. I’m 2 weeks in and my game is changing for the better soooo much!

I was told today by a teammate, “You’re jiu jitsu has improved so much!! You roll like one of the guys now!” I’ll take it!

I’m definitely not a leg lock person. I’m still figuring out the top half of the body; however, I grabbed a footlock today and felt….powerful. I may engage in some more dark arts……

Spent the morning at a Henry Akins seminar. I always learn so much from him. I cannot recommend taking one of his seminars if you’re able.

Had a great open mat this morning. I was the only lady there and the guys collectively decided that they want me to be a guillotine machine, so they insisted on working that with me. I have the best teammates 🥰

I decided to quit fighting nature and let my natural hair color grow out which includes some grey that’s coming in. I added a few highlights to ensure the line wasn’t too harsh. Now that you can see more of my natural color. I’m getting more compliments on my hair than ever.

Just spent an entire round with my favorite blue belt just trying to wrist lock each other. Best. Round. Ever.

Being a key holder at my gym has its benefits. I can come whenever I want. I can open the gym. It also means on cold ass days like today, I get to be the one who turns on the heat. At least we have heat….

Struggling with motivation to go in the gym. I’ve been sitting in the parking lot for the last 10 minutes. I’m gonna do, I’m just bitch and complain about it first.

Spent a good portion of skills and drills class wristlocking a blue belt tonight. I have redeemed myself.

Cooking up some blackberry bourbon quail from Rob’s New Year’s Day hunt, so I figured music and a drink are in order.

I’ve wobbled between deep regret that our relationship wasn’t different and relief that he found peace from the demons his battled nearly his whole life. It’s hard. Loving an addict is hard, even when they’re gone.

I attended Celebrate Recovery and it helped me see him differently. Better, but we were still distant. I’m an only child and my parents divorced years ago. My aunts have been a Godsend through this experience.
