The people who benefit from MLB not having a salary cap say a cap isn’t the issue + wouldn’t change anything and yet fight so hard to avoid a cap because they know it would change things + remove unfair advantage. If a cap won’t matter, they should embrace it to prove their point

Appreciate @RockGunResearch giving me a platform!
"I consider firearm suicide prevention to be my life’s work. Around 60 percent of all gun deaths in the US are suicides, and over half of all US suicides result from self-inflicted gunshot wounds." Read our latest member highlight: @PsychBrownBag. https://t.co/6qEG44Hb68

Back at PNC Park for my annual pilgrimage. The organization is a disaster, but I love it here. Nutting doesn’t get to take that away. #SellTheTeam

Here's the truth that @Phillies regular Bryce Harper doesn't want you to hear -- and certainly not his teammates, who would find out how badly they're getting jobbed without a salary cap/floor system: https://t.co/qm5Zuet07K

MLBPA executive director Tony Clark says a salary cap system is not about growing the game. If that were true, why are all the sports that have one growing -- and baseball is not?

Was just told by an Atlanta @Delta gate agent that they’d fine me $10k if I carry my daughter’s backpack for her onto the plane. This after another 2.5 hour delay. Keep on knocking it out of the park with customer service, folks!

MLBPA executive director Tony Clark spoke to reporters at @MLB All-Star game to blast the idea of a salary cap system for baseball. Pretty much everything he said about a cap was wrong. Here's how it could help the players he represents -- and the sport. https://t.co/qm5Zuessic

With a home stand against the Braves coming up, it’s a good time to address the tired and misguided “sO dOn’T gO tO gAmEs!” argument which we so often hear. Let’s be clear: blaming the fans is both lazy and completely off base. The Pirates generate the bulk of their revenue from

Amazing. In *two* minutes, Pete Buttigieg got Andrew Shulz to see why government research is necessary. That is why these conversations matter. A lot of the hosts & audience would never hear a message like this one. But when they do, it makes sense. https://t.co/GKtV3lYicw

Wow. @pirates cutting the crowd mic during a “sell the team” chant. They won’t improve the product and quiet chants that way - just resort to hiding reality. Truly pathetic.

https://t.co/Ia35oq4068 - The @NJGVRC is facing a $1 million slashing to our budget. There is still time for @GovMurphy to reconsider making this move - particularly in the midst of a federal war on science and the disappearance of federal gun violence prevention resources.

Governor Phil Murphy’s move to slash a New Jersey research hub comes as the state braces for leaner budgets under the Trump administration.

https://t.co/CI9xuUkjDR Always appreciate @NJSpotlightNews giving me a chance to discuss @NJGVRC research. Unfortunately, we’re facing a huge budget cut from NJ right as federal dollars disappear. NJ needs to lead right now - this cut will feed the war on science.

13/ We did not write this paper to say guns are bad or self-defense never happens. We wrote it to quantify how often it happens and to demonstrate how that compares to the frequency with which folks with firearms encounter potentially traumatic or fatal instances of gun violence.

12/ And lastly, just because someone perceives someone as a threat does not mean they are. Just because someone may be a threat does not mean a firearm is required for defense. And just because a firearm is used in defense does not mean that use produced a positive outcome.

11/ There are a few main takeaways here. 1. DGU happens, but not very often and far less often that exposure to gun violence. 2. Policy discussions that center on self-defense are misstating the risk profile of firearm access and overstating the role of self-defense.

10/ This means DGU is more likely when someone has quick, ready access to their firearm, interacts with it more frequently (particularly away from home), and has had experiences with gun violence that might prime them to perceive threats and feel compelled to defend themselves.
