Pregnancy-associated myocardial infarction (PAMI) is an important cause of morbidity or mortality. The mechanism varies significantly depending on the timing of PAMI occurrence, with SCAD being the most common cause in the postpartum period. #CardioObstetrics #cvMI

Just back from an Obstetric Medicine outreach trip to Guyana. A beautiful country! There is room for improvement (MMR~200/100,000) but they have a robust Maternal Mortality Review process and the staff are enthusiastic. Let's promote global maternal health @ ISOM, NASOM and CPP!

Superb Medical Grand Rounds today at the U of Calgary by Dr Kara Nerenberg (new Mid-Career Women’s Heart and Brain Health Chair, HSF). More research needed but Kara says intervention may reduce additional CV risk after HDP by up to 90%. @TheHSF @UCalgaryMed

Excellent session at ISOM by Saskia Middeldorp on Thrombophilias. Main points: no need to test for inherited thrombophilias in APOs (unless recruiting to ALife2 trial), unclear if Hep/LMWH add to ASA benefit in Obstetric APLA syndrome, no good data on DOACs in pregnancy or BF
