I wanted to share some exciting news: This fall I will be starting at the @VMNH as the new curator of herpetology! Excited to explore the fantastic salamander diversity this region has to offer, and can't wait for the snake adventures and new collaborations on the horizon.

Using genomic data, we found that speciation rates are unrelated to the formation of population structure (at least for the Malagasy gemsnakes, a young group spatially constrained to a single-island system) - read more about it here!.@Sara_and_Snakes

Amazing to see this! A great reminder that DOR reptiles & amphibians can provide our collections with valuable specimens AND critical tissue samples for future genetic studies!.
While conducting fieldwork we salvage a lot of #roadkill #reptiles to be deposited in natural history museums. These preserved #specimens are vital for research and conservation as each one contains a wealth of information that can be studied for decades to come. #OrianneSociety
