Yes Amy's gameplay focusing on bounce physics rather than rolling physics is a great way to differentiate her from the other characters and give her unique strengths, her loop jumps and spring bounces for example are the best in the game
In Sonic Advance, Amy cannot spin dash; instead, she hops forward and can faceplant into enemies by pressing the B button mid-hop.
Looks like it hurts.
