New interesting piece on gendered threats to POC displaying that much is yet to be learned: "Missions’ approaches to gendered threats to the protection of civilians are at most coordinated rather than substantively coherent." https://t.co/lQH4ODRehz

This paper examines how peacekeeping missions conceptualize and define gendered threats to civilians at the field level.

It is hard not to give in a ride on the wave of memes on the #SuezBLOCKED, especially when seeing this👇🙃
Hey, #peacebuilding community, does the #Evergreen fiasco in Suez also remind you of the conflict prevention vs. securitized approach to peace and conflict? Asking for a friend. Never give up. #ThisIsPeacebuilding

What better time to check out Nina's chapter on #feminist #peace than today on #InternationalWomensDay! 👇💪
My chapter on how to achieve a #feminist #peace is out! This implies going beyond ‘letting women participate’ in a system conceived by & for men, towards transforming the system itself. Read it in this excellent book: "A Requiem for Peacebuilding?" https://t.co/7DFJZOPMvN

Another compelling reason why climate change is an issue of #security. In the #Sahel "climate change is not an opinion, it is a reality. The rainy seasons are growing shorter and the dry seasons are longer, lasting up to 9 months." https://t.co/FUeGoKYfv0

The situation in the Central African Republic remains urgent and many civilians fleeing violence are locked at the border of DRC where humanitarian aid have a difficult time reaching out.
Thousands of Central African Republic refugees are living in makeshift shelters and struggling to care for their families in hard-to-reach areas close to the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Lauren Anthony reports.

"The EU will this year change the way it funds African peace and security. The changes are likely to have big implications, for the AU Commission" Brussels’ ability to now finance lethal equipment is causing some concern that weapons fall into wrong hands. https://t.co/GfHx8f1pRk

Brussels can in future directly finance regional and national military initiatives rather than funnelling money through the AU.

Last week the #ICC trial against two Anti-balaka leaders began and was transmitted in Bangui, sparking a little hope for justice among some victims. However, many steps are yet to be taken and the current outbreak of violence makes this process even harder https://t.co/QRVQ9yC2O5

Growing opposition against France mission as more civilians are killed by e.g. national forces than extremists: "Many Sahelians, especially Malians, don’t understand why Barkhane’s mandate focuses on counter-terrorism and not protection of civilians." https://t.co/7pGOvb44cU

As the security crisis persists, public opinion on both sides is showing signs of rising impatience.

As post-election violence continues in CAR, sexual violence is on the rise as well. 👉“Sexual violence was already present, but we noticed a rise in the amount of cases over the past weeks, certainly linked to the recurrence of violence.” https://t.co/OWQvLZUCn0

Security forces have pushed back a rebel offensive, but hundreds of thousands remain displaced and in need of assistance.
