Over the past two months – over the past nine years – it’s been amazing to see how people in their 70s, 80s and 90s have supported younger people in times of challenge through @TheCaresFamily. The best relationships are mutual.
‘Researchers have warned that young people could be up to three times more likely to develop depression in the future as a result from loneliness during lockdown and isolation.’ Via @united4allages

The Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996 (PEA), 26 September 2011. Under the terms of the Act, prisoners undertaking paid work in the community, earning excess of £20 a week may be made subject to a levy of 40% of their remaining earnings. Not really an incentive to prisoners working?

I learned the meaning of community in a school, a record shop, a pub and a supermarket. Then, 10 years ago today, I met an 84-year-old who changed my life and inspired 500,000 interactions in a changing world. 10 years on, here’s @TheCaresFamily story. https://t.co/mBGpbd1Htc

We could teach ex offenders a growth mindset using mentors, allowing the development of hope, respect and different values. The Ghana Prison Service has introduced an intensive Mindset Education programme in prisons across the country. #rehabilitation Dr K Khan

Keeping in touch is crucial, and many of us will come out feeling stronger. Here are some reasons why it’s so key for older and younger people to stay connected while we’re all physically apart:

Now we’re allowed to reopen our shops inside supermarkets we are coming out of hibernation in 40 shops next week as a trial. We’ve been working hard to ensure shops are safe for our colleagues and customers, and social distancing works. Pods and High St to remain closed for now.

Some quotes from one of our Members are featured in this great article about how prisoners cope with isolation by @JanLodgeJBS

Being cooped up at home is of course far more manageable than being locked up behind bars. But people isolating due to COVID-19 are still forced to deal with some of the same problems.
