This review found that follow-up after childbirth can be implemented using a variety of methods after discharge with high response rates in most studies and have the potential to be integrated into routine health care approaches. https://t.co/oyhjN5Mm1p

This work has been part of an enjoyable collaboration between @LSHTM and @EngenderHealth in the DRC and US via @USAID_MOMENTUM
Read our article, ‘Surviving and Thriving in the #Postpartum Period’, where we discuss the urgent need for improved postpartum follow-up, and our work testing phone-based methods in the DRC. @USAID_MOMENTUM @EngenderHealth @MARCH_LSHTM

I also find this article thought provoking https://t.co/Ajfuz4Vf28 Important to know what happens to other outcomes (like stillbirths etc). #Maternalhealth #Covidcollateral

Hospitals in several countries saw dips in premature births, which could be a starting point for future research.

@drkstevenson @1verofilippi @MARCH_LSHTM @TheMarceSociety @LSHTM_Crises @MMHAlliance A6: Common causes of death among pregnant and postpartum women will increase due to restricted proper access to health care during the sanitary emergency. There will be delay in managing postpartum hemorrhage, high blood pressure and infections. #covidcollateral #BrazCOVIDPreg

@profwendygraham @MARCH_LSHTM #COVIDcollateral Might have some use in extreme situations, but isn't a substitute for strengthening #CRVS. To fully understand MM +/- #COVID19, need to have cause of death for all women of reproductive age in a population (also to interpret excess mortality patterns for WRAs)

@1verofilippi Also wonder about the potential for long-term health effects following #COVID19 infection and what this may mean for women's complex healthcare needs in future pregnancies? Some #CovidCollateral apparent now and some effects may become apparent in the years to come

This is the first report we published and sent to @UN_SPExperts and @UNHumanRights in May. #COVID19 is changing the face of maternity care, making inequalities deeper and more serious #CovidCollateral
For the past two months, we have been bringing together reports on disproportionate rights violations in maternity care during COVID-19. The report has been sent to a number of human rights bodies - please share widely. https://t.co/QnQ6ASdobl

I'm a fan of using existing data (like HMIS) to pick up changes. There are challenges, but using data helps improve them. #Maternalhealth #Covidcollateral
Q8 What can researchers do to help reduce the impact of #COVID19 on maternal mortality? Reply with A8 and #covidcollateral

Really interesting to hear about these solutions
A7 WIC spaces in evacuation centers provide sanctuaries for moms & their young infants & children. Build back their confidence; build sisterhood among breastfeeding & formula feeding moms. Help them relactate. https://t.co/myPJTfp4nj

Participate in our #covidcollateral session to learn from colleagues about the direct and indirect ways in which the epidemic adversely affects pregnant women and their babies
Q6 Will #COVID19 increase maternal mortality? Why? What causes of death will be most affected? #MaternalHealth Reply with A6 and #covidcollateral

1/7 Great progress has been made in maternal and newborn health (MNH) in the previous 3 decades, but the direct and indirect impacts of the #COVID19 pandemic risks reversing these hard won gains for women and newborns in LMICs.
