Duolingo is helpful for vocabulary building. It has helped me get a feel for correct sentence structure in German. BUT! If you really want to learn a language, you HAVE to interact with other humans. Duolingo (or any other language-learning software) is just a tool.

And to address the question, “Do you recommend Duolingo?” My answer is: It’s a great tool. You can’t fully learn a language with it. But as one aspect of your language-learning journey, it definitely has its benefits.

Full disclosure: - yes, I use streak freezes when I forget a day here and there. That’s why I’m just now at 1,000 even though (365*3)>1000 - sometimes I hop over to Spanish when I want quick XP ... and it’s been helpful for brushing up some complex structures and vocabulary
