Agreed.
The most important way children learn is by being around adults and being involved in things adults are doing. When you have them stuck in a school all day, it actually stunts them because they’re only learning stuff like how to stand in line and sit still and follow directions.

Education research doesn't really exist. There are rare exceptions like science of reading.
My wife, who chose direct instruction as her research topic for a class paper: “I’m getting really annoyed because I’m trying to find credible research I can use as counter evidence that argues for discovery methods, but there’s literally nothing.”. Exactly.

I find it so interesting that the flood of small new private schools started by teachers don't even worry about this. The kids feel like a community because the schools are so small.
If you leave expulsion off the table of disciplinary options, then none of the other options will matter.

Traditional school dominates the lives of the families who send their child there. They try and make it feel normal that you only spend time working on the assigned homework, assigned review, or assigned topic of conversation. Homeschooling breaks that idea.
