Get off my lawn! The lawn is a dangerous place to be when it’s being mowed, so send kids inside with another adult or to the backyard if you are mowing the front yard (and vice versa). When you're done, put the mower away so it can cool down out of the reach of children.

Sparklers and other small fireworks might seem like good ol' traditional Fourth of July fun, but thousands of kids suffer serious burns from sparklers. Choose safer alternatives like glow sticks, bubbles, noisemakers, and silly string.

Summer camp is great for kids to grow, explore, and test boundaries. Keep them out and playing:.>Send them with sturdy, closed-toe shoes like sneakers or boots. >Remind them to find an adult if an injury happens. The sooner they get help, the sooner they can return to the fun.

It’s no fun to be scratching while everyone else is out playing and having fun at camp. Teach your child to recognize and avoid plants like poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac and to tell an adult if any itchy spots show up on their skin.

Keep everyone *cool* under the sun and protected from its harmful rays with a shade tent or umbrella. Babies, small children, and older adults can't handle heat as well as younger adults, so shade can also help them stay at a safer temperature even on hot days.

Button batteries are found in homes everywhere, but they can be deadly if swallowed. These tiny power sources can burn through tissue in just 2 hours. Keep button and coin batteries up and away from children. #ButtonBatterySafety

Open water is more challenging to swim in than pools: rocks, currents, and waves are just a few of the extra hazards to navigate . Before you let your kids dive in, choose your spot carefully. Swim in an area with a lifeguard if you can, and follow any instructions immediately.
