Congratulations to Oscar winner Alex Coco ’12, who produced the award-winning, dark romantic comedy Anora. Coco was recently featured in the inaugural class of Colgate Magazine's 40 Under 40. https://t.co/3yluCsXPL8

Howard Fineman, Colgate ‘70, was a brilliant journalist & a keen observer of all things. It was a rare month in which I didn’t receive several emails offering his thoughts on the state of Colgate. His shrewd observations were always smart & always sent with love for his college
The Colgate community celebrates the memory of Howard Fineman '70. Fineman began his career in the late 1960s with The Colgate Maroon and went on to become "a titan of the Washington journalism establishment." https://t.co/yeDtBm49Xx

Thank you @colgateuniv for inviting me to present a talk on "Sound Futures" during Commencement Weekend and for bestowing on me an Honorary Doctorate of Letters degree. I so appreciated the warm welcome from @PresidentCasey and the entire Colgate community. Sincerest gratitude!

13/ it’s remarkably moving actually. Mostly, though, I can’t wait to see you there, Colgate Class of 2024. You’ve been through a lot. It’ll be nice to put your robes on and think about that. Trust me.

12/ It’s very, very crowded and kind of loud, and seats for family members go very, very quickly.

10/ It’s also when it dawns on everyone that “wait, this is really happening?”

9/ There’s even some performances from seniors who performed at Dancefest. It’s basically everything that happens in the Colgate Chapel over the course of a year, rolled into one hour. (Music, words, dance—but it’s happening because you’re graduating the next day.)

8/ There are readings and prayers offered by your classmates, and music offered by the Colgate 13 and Swinging Gates and others (the seniors in these groups), which is always great. You’re allowed to have fun at this. Your classmates are up on the stage after all. Clap etc.

7/ It’s also, at Colgate, the moment when the president (me) addresses the class. And, given all we went through together, there are a few things I really want to say to you…it’s an emotional thing to say goodbye to a class I moved in with four years ago. (go West Hall.)

6/ At Colgate it’s the ceremony where you hear from the 1819 Award winner (go Jon Eaton) and a professor chosen for their teaching greatness (go Prof Carrie Keating.)

5/ It’s the first time you wear your robes, which is sort of thrilling, and different. “Whoah, we’re all wearing robes.” (But for Baccalaureate you don’t wear your caps.)
