Man, this is one strange Spider-Man tale! Bernie Wrightson art is typically amazing though

David Lapham’s Stray Bullets #2 was part of the very first Free Comic Book Day in 2002. I remember reading that issue made me pick up the first few trades that were out by then. I loved crime comics like 100 Bullets at the time but never had read anything like it before

“My Tragic Affair” splash page by Wally Wood from Confessions Illustrated #1. Part of #ECComics’ post-comics code picto-fiction line. Don’t listen to her, George ! The big city’s gonna chew her up and spit her out…

Cover for Eclipse Comic’s Tales of Terror #5 by Tim Conrad. Skeletons are bad enough but it’s the fire-breathing ones you gotta watch out for

Four of the info pages by Joe Kubert for DC’s adaptation of The Bible. Such a neat artifact from a different comics era

A couple two-page spreads by Nestor Redondo from DC’s 1975 adaptation of The Bible - The Tower of Babel and the animals leaving Noah’s ark. Great art for the book, and these pages make good use of the oversized treasury format

“Unto You Is Born… Doomsman!” Too bad this nickname for Doctor Doom didn’t catch on. A great splash by #WallyWood for Astonishing Tales #1. I think this series is my favourite Wally Wood at Marvel

I love the composition of the second one. Just the silhouettes of the weapons to tell us all the context we need for the story.

This’ll be my last post on these issues, but I really love the couple shots of Green Arrow we get in #AlexToth’s Black Canary story. Toth loved that Errol Flynn-like character and his GA fits the bill. Why does Black Canary have a picture of him in his costume, though?

The respective creations of Adam and Eve, as shown in DC’s 1975 adaptation of The Bible. Art by Nestor Redondo over Joe Kubert layouts. Great use of the treasury size format in this book. Kubert uses the space and size well for these miraculous moments

I’ve always had a soft spot for bog/swamp monsters in comics, but I’d never read one of the first - The Heap. Picked this up at my LCS today. They had me at the Brunner infinity cover, but looking forward to finding out why they heap so much praise on this early comic

Picked up Limited Collectors Edition C-36, otherwise known as DC’s treasury sized adaptation of the Christian Bible, at my LCS. Not religious myself, but looking forward to going through it! It’s from 1975 and features breakdowns by Joe Kubert and finishes by Nestor Redondo!
