6/ This study provides: 🧭 A framework for prehospital SOPs 📚 Guidance for training & triage ⚖️ A mandate to reduce inequities in trauma care It’s another step forward for safer roads and better post-collision care.

5/ This challenges traditional role boundaries: Fire, police, and other trained responders could safely provide life-saving care when patients are trapped — ensuring faster, fairer treatment. It’s about capability, not just role.

4/ Key findings: 🔑 Early analgesia is essential 🔑 TXA saves lives and should be given as early as possible 🔑 Protection from environmental stressors (cold, heat, smoke) is vital 💡 Importantly: any trained responder should be enabled to deliver these interventions

3/ Through a Delphi consensus involving clinicians, paramedics & fire/rescue experts, we agreed on 45 key statementscovering: ✅ Injury categorisation (time-critical vs. time-dependent) ✅ Priority interventions ✅ Multi-agency responsibilities

2/ Why this matters: 🚗 Around 1 in 10 casualties after a collision are physically trapped. ⏱️ They face delays in treatment and worse outcomes. Yet, there has been no clear consensus on which injuries to prioritise, or what care should happen before extrication.
