#OnThisDay in 1916 the Battle of the Somme came to an end. One of the bloodiest battles of WW1, it lasted for 141 days and saw over one million dead or wounded. The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing bears the names of over 72,000 men who died in the Somme and have no known grave.

Yesterday in P5/6 we observed a 2 minute silence during a short @bbcbitesize film. We discussed how everyone who was killed was mourned by a family. One of our classmates brought in a short presentation today honouring his family members and shared this with us. @poppyscotland
