This is completely overshadowed by the baseline smugness of people in SF is at least 5 standard deviations higher than anywhere else. You guys make New Yorkers seem humble
I'm slowly coming to realize that a big reason I enjoy being in SF so much is that the baseline IQ feels at least half a standard deviation higher than DC. It's this intangible aspect to every conversation across a wide range of personalities, like a brain fog was lifted.

Idea for fixing government shutdowns: Create a financial service company where for a monthly premium they pay federal workers their salary whenever there’s a shutdown. Now to lower how much they have to pay out they’ll lobby Congress to make sure shutdowns never happen

Going to a country where journalists are routinely murdered by the government for reporting they don’t like and complaining about people not liking you on Twitter is just deeply sick. Also he is being paid by that government and had to agree not to criticize them.

This makes everyone unhappy. Immigration restrictionists and racists will hate it because it still lets in foreign people still. Tech/Abundance people will hate it prioritized the wrong jobs. Economic populists bc it pushes down wages for domestic workers. Just bad bad bad.
The new Trump H-1B rule just dropped! It prioritizes DOL "Wage Levels," not real wages. DOL thinks an experienced acupuncturist making $40k is a higher "Wage Level" than an early-career AI scientist making $280k. That means more visas for outsourcers, fewer for real talent.
