"The day starts with a warm tea. We've been working on the lighting project for Denmark: building a few dozen modules with silicon tubes, carbon cloth and PVC material. Working at Plant-e is a learning process. We work directly with plants; water them, and we grow an attachment"

Plants used for energy allow for a broad palette of shapes and colours. They support the electricity-generating Geobacter bacteria, that only require wet soil. Plants create a circular system by feeding bacteria glucose through the roots. Some water-loving plants are shown here!

We're simulating Indonesian wetlands! The new vertical design for the Plant Microbial Fuel Cell will harvest electricity produced by micro-organisms fed by plants. We'll be installing them in Indonesia to help researchers by powering wireless sensors in these remote places.

Van den Berk Boomkwekerijen and Plant-e are working on the development of a smart tree planter. Using a remote wireless soil moisture sensor powered by a plant-microbial fuel cell, the tree signals the green maintenance whenever it needs additional water.

At this very moment, we are working on several projects bringing remote sensors powered by plants and trees from a future possibility to current reality. We are doing this by building a demonstration of such a battery-free IoT sensor. #plante #PlantPower #Sustainability
