Breaking news: millions of sky watchers are just now discovering... Mars. More at 11 🙃 (RIP r/Moon)

I would unironically read "7 Habits of Highly Effusive Eruptions," and insist on the edition with the foreward from Mauna Loa 🥹🌋
Even volcanoes make resolutions! This New Year's Eve, we're sharing a few of our favorite self-help books for becoming a better volcano. We wish you a very Happy New Year in 2025! All volcanoes in California were at normal levels of activity last week. https://t.co/r5z5SQkH5l

I'd like to know a little more about "half my life doing a PhD." Like, did you start at 15 and were really bad at it, so you got it at 30? I got mine at 30, and I know people who took 10+ years to get one, but not both!! That's... huh.
I spent half my life pursuing a PhD in biotechnology. I dedicated myself to honest science—running experiments, being critical, and trying to disprove my own hypotheses. Eventually, I earned my degree. It was grueling but meaningful work. Then you see this. This woman just

Will there be an Avatar Avatar? One Avatar to rule them all. If not, I'm not watching. Just kidding, I didn't see the water one, so I'm not watching the air nomad and fire nation one either
James Cameron says 'AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH' will introduce two new Na'vi tribes. One is nomadic and travel through the air. The other represents the dark side of the Na'vi. "They were destroyed by volcanic eruptions, so they resent nature and everything the forest Na'vi preach."

On Sept 27, 2024, Barlow crater was officially named by the @IAU_org for a prominent crater in Sinai Planum on Mars. The name approval commemorates Dr. Nadine Barlow (1958–2020), @NAU professor and noted leader in the field of Mars crater studies. 🔗➡️ https://t.co/KBDmB8LhsC

Just opened the blue app for the first time in months and it's all anime. So I haven't figured out the algorithm and I need more scientists to follow. Anyone have a list or want a follow over yonder?

This is a great opinion piece by @Prof_Clive_Neal @DrPhiltill & others: NASA’s cancellation of VIPER cedes leadership in lunar exploration https://t.co/910BB1VdhI via @SpaceNews_Inc
spacenews.com
As professional lunar scientists and engineers unaffiliated with VIPER, we maintain that the cancellation is a mistake.

Today I was giving a tour of my office and one of the visitors remarked "oh I saw your nameplate as we walked by your office and that reminded me you're a Dr." 🥴

This summer, Astrogeology hosted four undergraduate student researchers through the NSF's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (#REU) program. We caught up with Liberty Mallison about her experience! Hear from Liberty, about the program, and more here: https://t.co/kQaQOYWXGt

Weather is a bit sketch rn, but I'll take a coat of graupel over shear-your-face-off winds, I guess!
How's the weather where you are? Hopefully it's not as bad as the 2,200 kph (1,300 mph) winds on Neptune or storms the size of EARTH on Jupiter! We asked about weather and learned about Mars Meteorology! 🤭

Ah, an excuse to share my favorite review ever published
If you're below a certain age you might not remember how stupid it was when The DaVinci Code was first getting huge. Coworkers and classmates would tell you they had lost their Catholic faith because of the massive coverup "revealed" in this book

Wildfires can happen in many areas and have a variety of impacts - did you know Astrogeology studies wildfires as one of the potential cascading hazards from an asteroid impact? Find out what that means at this link: https://t.co/GznTIY0Ja9
