We are setting 4 modified CDC traps in areas around Placer County. This project will run through the summer to better understand the species composition of this vector in Placer County and allow mosquito control agencies to be better prepared if Oropouche is introduced. (3/3).

True! All mosquitos can transfer blood, so they all have the possibility to transmit diseases. However, there are only 3 types of mosquitos that are of main concern in Placer County, Aedes aegypti, Culex tarsalis, and Culex pipiens.

Did you know? Reseach has shown that mosquitos are attracted to carbon dioxide, body odor, and heat! . Even though these things are usually unpreventable, you can use an EPA-registered repellent along with protective clothing to help keep you safe from mosquitos!
