Throughout this year, Cherelle Parker has noted that she will make the city cleaner and greener. Big Belly trash cans have proven to be a crucial asset to making the city cleaner. 9th District residents- let’s give a huge “thank you Cherelle Parker!”

Residents being well acquainted with its police force is essential to public safety. National Night Out events in the 9th District are just a start to strengthening community policing in our district. I'm thrilled to support these efforts.

Yesterday, I enjoyed meeting and cheering on students from our district who are going to Martin Luther King High School and other area schools at the School District of Philadelphia's Back to School Bus Tour.

I was blessed to make the keynote Address for the PHENND/Americorps Next Step Program. When I took office, one of my key initiatives was to support youth in our city and make sure students get high quality resources and opportunities.

Taking Care of Business was a wonderful initiative created by former councilwoman and mayoral candidate Cherelle Parker. Ambassadors of TCB are some of the hardest workers in our city and I want to thank them for their hard work to keep our avenues and corridors clean.

I visited the Logan Library in our district to learn more about how I can be supportive of libraries throughout our 9th district. We must reimagine local public institutions like libraries and community centers, so that they are intentionally aligned with building community.

I love visiting and supporting businesses in our District! A goal of mine is to enhance the quality of life in the 9th District so we can have beautiful and clean business corridors. I want to grow our commercial corridors into the most sought-after areas in the City of PHL!

Trucks parked in our neighborhoods lower property values, create filth, and are an issue that will not continue under my leadership. My bill will ban them on every residential street, and I'm looking forward to working with the streets department on this!

This morning, I met with Mike from Taking Care of Business! This is one of the best initiatives in our city. At 6am they make sure our streets look beautiful every morning. I look forward to support and expand from business corridors to residential neighborhoods.

Last week, I was proud to introduce legislation allowing the Streets Department to ban truck parking on any and all residential blocks in the City of Philadelphia. This legislation is common sense.

Yesterday, my Council colleagues and I held a press conference to call on the School District to prioritize removing asbestos from school buildings. We cannot continue sending our children to learn in unsafe environments and needlessly spending when asbestos is found.

Thank you all for coming out to our Olney/East Oak Lane Table Talks event last week at Passi. I don't believe in leading without a vision. This is why I want to hear from you all first!
