Chris Bloomstran has dropped his annual letter. Its outstanding discussion of Berkshire Hathaway serves as a prolegomenon to the Chairman's letter, which arrives Saturday.

3/7 cont. I believe the stock is selling in the market around $35 to $37 a share, which means very little, except that people wish to speculate. We are reserving for you 1,000 shares at $20 a share, if you would like to have it.

2/7 My Dear Mr. Woodin:. Although we are making no offering of [Allegheny] stock, as it is not the class of security we wish to offer publicly, we are asking some of our close friends if they would like some of this stock at the same price it is costing us, namely, $20 a share.
